The Big Freeze Is Here!

If you’ve been thinking that the winter weather forecasters keep threatening us all with is never going to arrive, guess again! It’s definitely time to buy slipper socks online, we reckon, since temperatures have suddenly taken a serious plunge and there’s nothing but frost as far as the eye can see.

This week (December 29th), temperatures as low as -10 degrees C have been seen in parts of the UK, so wrap up warm in your slipper socks, onesies and jumpers because we think this is only the beginning of the Arctic freeze.

Luckily, many of us are still on our Christmas breaks so we don’t have to worry about going outside just yet and can sit in front of the fire, munching on festive goodies and watching feel-good films to our hearts’ content.

But if you are one of those going back to work between Christmas and the new year, make sure that you take all the proper precautions to stay safe in these treacherous conditions. Wear shoes with good grips, never leave home without your gloves, scarf and hat, and if you are driving anywhere please do be careful and go as slowly as you can.

It’s looking to be pretty chilly tonight as well, so just take care whatever you’re doing. That said, the Met Office is saying that the very end of the year will probably be a bit milder so that’s something to be glad about, although we’ll pay for it since it’s likely to be wet and windy as well.

Winter Weather Closing In!

You’d better rush out to buy slipper socks online to replenish your supply and make sure that everyone in your family has their own pair as well, because the cold weather is about to take hold of the UK and we’ll all soon be shivering away in the icy grip of old Jack Frost.

According to the Met Office, December will be getting off to a rather chilly start so if you’ve been revelling in the far-too-warm weather over the last couple of weeks, you’d better start bracing yourself now.

In fact, Public Health England (PHE) has issued a reminder in the face of this weather warning from the Met Office, advising people to take better care of themselves during the winter and make sure that they’ve prepared their properties to bear the brunt of the Arctic freeze.

The organisation suggested wearing a couple of layers of thinner clothing rather than a big thick layer, putting on slip-resistant shoes when going outside and heating your home to at least 18 degrees C to help ward off any nasty bugs.

“Before the really cold weather arrives this winter think now how the cold may have an effect on your friends and family,” Dr Angie Bone, PHE’s head of extreme events and health protection, remarked.

While the winter can be tricky, we love nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa in our onesies and slipper socks, watching silly Christmas films and supping on some hot chocolate. It’s the simple things that really mean the most at this time of year, isn’t it? What are your favourite winter traditions? Let us know in the comments below, or come and say hi on Twitter.

Top 5 Fashion Apps

We all need a bit of sartorial assistance from time to time and thankfully we’re living in the technological age, which means we only need turn to our smartphones and download an app to help us buy slipper socks online or get all manner of fashion inspiration. Here are our five favourite fashion apps to get you going.

  1. The Hunt

This app is really rather cool, helping you to find all those fabulous clothes you see popping up on social media sites like Pinterest, Instagram and Tumblr. Just upload a picture of something you’ve spotted and the community will help you to find either that exact item or one that’s even cheaper.

  1. Pose

Quite a fun idea, Pose is a weather app that has been designed to help you work out what to wear based on what’s going on outside. It checks your location and then sends you collections and photographs to help inspire you in your fashion choices for that day.

  1. Stylect

  1. Stylebook

We love a helpful app and Stylebook is certainly that. Upload photographs of your own clothes so you can organise them to perfection, allowing you to create and plan outfits to wear. You can also track what you wore and when so you won’t have to worry about wearing the same thing twice.

Berry Beautiful For Makeup This Season

We agree, there’s nothing quite like curling up in front of the fire after you’ve been off to buy slipper socks online and are wearing your new purchase, thinking how lovely winter can be. But in order to really appreciate these days at home, you need to be out and about partying some of the time as well.

And when you do decide it’s about time you broke out of your pyjamas and hopped into your glad rags, make sure that you look to berry shades for your Christmas party makeup, as this is the biggest trend to have emerged in recent weeks.

Berry lipstick is oh so very chic and goes with practically anything whatsoever, so no matter what you’ve got in the back of your wardrobe you know you can complete the look with just a touch of lippie. Go for a plum colour or something with a bit of depth, however, as anything too bright might look a little bit like you’re off to a Halloween party instead of a fabulous festive affair.

Our top tip for pulling this look off with ease? Keep it pretty simple where the rest of your makeup is concerned. All you need is a bit of foundation, some eyeliner and a flick of mascara, and you’re good to go.

This look isn’t for the faint of heart but anyone can do it if they put their mind to it. All you have to do is be a bit brave, so have courage this Christmas and plump for a purple pout.

Wettest Winter For 30 Years Now Forecast!

Well, we know what makes us want to buy slipper socks online and curl up into a ball on the sofa until the spring makes its welcome return – the news that the UK is now facing its wettest winter for 30 years. Just what the doctor ordered!

According to the Met Office, there is a pretty good chance of above-average rainfall from now until the end of January, so batten down the hatches and make sure you’ve got a good, sturdy umbrella if you absolutely have to leave the house.

We’re also likely to see a spot of snow in the coming weeks (although some of us might actually welcome a bit of cold weather seeing as how it’s been so unseasonably warm so far this winter… after all, it’s nearly December – a bit of a freeze might be nice).

No matter what the weather gods decide to throw at us, however, we’ll be more than prepared fashion-wise. When we’re cuddled up indoors, we’ll have our slipper socks on to keep our toes snug and warm even as the snow falls down around us and when we have no other choice but to go outside, we’ll pull on our favourite pair of patterned tights and layer up right nice so no cold seeps through.

Navigating the winter weather is all about preparation, so have a rifle through your drawers and wardrobe right now to make sure you’ve got everything you need to make it through to the other side.

Top 5 Christmas Stocking Filler Ideas

We don’t mean to alarm you, but Christmas is just a matter of weeks away so if you haven’t made a start on your present-shopping just yet, we suggest you get a bit of a wriggle on… and we think if you buy slipper socks online as your first stocking filler, you’ll be onto a winner already.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed at this time of year with so much to do and sort out, but use our top five stocking filler checklist and you’ll be off to a fabulous start straightaway.

  1. Personalised coasters

Instajunction is a great little company that turns your favourite photos into coasters or other items that are just the right size to fit in a Christmas stocking. A set of four costs £15 and are really easily to personalise so make the perfect gift, we say.

  1. Chocolate and salted caramel marshmallows

Everyone wants something sweet in their stockings so think outside the box this year and instead of throwing in some chocolate coins, go for some chocolate and salted caramel marshmallows from Zukr Boutique. At £8, they won’t break the bank but they’ll be very well received.

  1. Personalised message coffee stencil

Help your friends and family channel their inner barista with a really fun coffee stencil from Sophia Victoria Joy. At £12.50, they come in a variety of colours and can be made to say anything you want so think long and hard about how you want to personalise them.

Slipper Socks: The Only Choice For The Fashion-Forward

Everyone wants to look their best at Christmas, even when they’re just sat at home, cuddled up with their other half and watching fun festive television. After all, it is the silly season and you never know who might just come a-calling, so make sure you’re ready for all manner of visitors and buy slipper socks online to stay looking on trend at all times.

These are so, so much better than a pair of old-fashioned slippers which, let’s face it, will immediately make people think ‘grandma’ when they look at you shuffling about the house. Slipper socks, on the other hand, are on everybody’s Christmas present list this year since they not only keep your feet snug as a bug in a rug, they look so ridiculously trendy that Santa’s little elves will have their work cut out for them making sure that everyone gets what they ask for this Christmas.

They even translate well out of doors if you simply can’t bear to take them off your feet to head out into the big wide world. Keep them on, pull on your fluffy sheepskin boots and make your way out into the snow… if you go for a pair with a festive pattern on them, you’ll feel right at home – and we guarantee that everyone will be commenting on your superior sense of style.

So if you want to look the bee’s knees and the cat’s pyjamas this year when everyone’s sat around the Christmas tree opening their presents, make sure you do it in a super-stylish pair of slipper socks.

Cosy Toes!

Who doesn’t love winter, really? There’s absolutely nothing better than snuggling up on the sofa with your other half, wrapped up in warm winter woollies – so make sure that you’ve stocked up on everything you need to do just that. Don’t forget to buy slipper socks online either… they’re an integral part of looking cute and staying cosy in the winter!

They come in all sorts of gorgeous styles but we have to say that we’re particularly big fans of the Fair Isle ones – the patterns are just so very Christmassy that you’ll feel festive as soon as you put a pair on to keep warm. The fluffy lining means you’ll never feel frosty and the fun colours will keep you in good cheer, even if wind, rain and snow are beating down your door.

What’s even better is that they often come with non-slip soles, so you don’t have to worry about sliding around and crashing into your Christmas tree by mistake. We love how slipper socks look when paired with some beautiful pyjamas (you’ll never want to get dressed again!), but they look great when worn to keep your legs warm with some bed shorts and a big jumper as well.

If you want to look on trend and seriously fashionable this year, there’s only one thing you need to add to your dresser drawer – a beautiful pair of fluffy-lined socks. They’ll also make wonderful Christmas presents, so show your friends and family how much you care about keeping their toes cosy with a pair of these this year.
